Sunlight

In “Sunlight,” I sought to capture the fleeting, euphoric essence of a daydream bathed in the warmth of a summer’s afternoon glow. Working on this expansive 54″ x 54″ canvas, I utilized the richness of oil paints to build a landscape of emotion rather than a literal place. My process focused on the interplay between heavy, tactile impasto strokes and softer, ethereal washes, allowing the vibrant cadmium oranges and sun-drenched yellows to collide with cooler, grounding notes of forest green and muted lavender.

The composition is an exploration of light’s movement; I wanted the viewer to feel the energy radiating from the core of the piece, where the pigments are at their most intense and visceral. By layering the paint with both brushes and palette knives, I created a surface that invites the eye to wander through vertical fractures and horizontal drifts, mimicking the way memory shifts and blurs. For me, this work is a celebration of warmth and the quiet, internal stillness one finds when lost in a moment of pure, luminous reflection.
