In “Elements,” I wanted to capture the raw, kinetic energy of opposing forces finding a chaotic harmony on a grand scale. Working on this 48″ x 60″ canvas, I allowed the physical act of painting to guide the composition, utilizing bold, sweeping gestures that bridge the divide between two distinct worlds. On the left, a surge of fiery oranges and sun-drenched yellows erupts with heat and light, while the right is grounded in a deep, cool expanse of cerulean blue.
I see the pale, cream-colored strokes as the “dancers” themselves—fluid ribbons of motion that disregard the boundaries I’ve set. They whip across the center, dragging fragments of warmth into the cold and vice versa, creating a sense of constant, swirling transformation. By leaving the brushwork visible and the edges feathered, I hope to convey that this isn’t a static image, but a captured moment of an ongoing elemental collision, where friction and flow coexist in a vibrant, tactile balance.
