When I began Luck of the Irish, I wasn’t thinking about four-leaf clovers or folklore as much as I was reflecting on the idea that luck is often something we create through perseverance, optimism, and the courage to keep moving forward. The title nods to the rich traditions of Ireland, but the painting speaks to a universal belief that hope can open doors we never imagined.

Working with a palette knife, I built the composition in thick, expressive layers of oil paint, allowing each mark to remain visible as part of the painting’s story. The rich greens symbolize renewal, resilience, and growth, while touches of yellow introduce warmth, optimism, and the promise of brighter days. The central forms suggest a doorway or passage, inviting the viewer to imagine stepping into new opportunities waiting just beyond the frame.

I intentionally kept the imagery abstract because I wanted the meaning to remain personal. For some, this painting may evoke memories of home or heritage. For others, it may represent a fresh beginning, a fortunate turn of events, or the quiet confidence that good things are still ahead.

For me, Luck of the Irish is a reminder that fortune is rarely accidental. It often arrives after persistence, faith, and countless small decisions that lead us in the right direction. I hope this painting inspires viewers to trust their journey, embrace unexpected opportunities, and remember that sometimes the greatest luck comes from believing in what is possible before anyone else can see it.
