Rusty Hardware

When I created this piece, I was really inspired by the quiet, rugged beauty found in industrial decay. I wanted to capture that moment of discovery when you see something structural and oxidized against a crumbling concrete wall. By using thick, heavy impasto, I could physically build up layers of rich red and deep charcoal, contrasting them with cool, textured grey. Then, I cut through the chaos with those sharp, metallic gold strokes to represent the glimmers of forgotten metalwork or an unexpected pop of color. It’s a celebration of the imperfect and the built-up layers of history.
