In this oil on paper painting titled ‘Crimson Shore,’ I sought to evoke a dramatic and mysterious landscape where land and water meet under an intense atmospheric shift. The composition is anchored by a striking block of rich, textured crimson on the right, representing the rugged shoreline glowing under a powerful light or twilight hue.
Opposite this bold red mass, deep cobalt blues and cool tones wash across the left side, capturing the heavy, fluid motion of water. Above them, dark, shadowy purples and blacks shroud the upper register, creating a sense of nocturnal depth and solemn atmosphere. Through thick, expressive impasto strokes, I wanted to build a tactile energy that gives the physical surface of the paper a strong sense of place and emotional weight.
