With ‘Spring Awakening’, an oil on paper painting, I wanted to capture the vibrant, energetic burst of life that defines the transition into a new season. The composition is grounded by a fresh, luminous field of light green across the lower half, symbolizing the new growth sprouting from the earth.
Above this grounding green, the upper canvas transforms into a dynamic atmospheric blend of deep purples, soft pinks, and brilliant blues. Cutting through this sky-like expanse are deliberate strokes of bright green that mimic shafts of spring light or fresh shoots reaching upward, while matching dark vertical marks anchor the lower field. Through expressive impasto applications and a balance of soft washes and bold marks, I sought to convey the lively rhythm and awakening vitality of nature.
