In Pulse of the Horizon, an oil on paper abstract painting, I sought to capture the visceral energy of a shifting skyline and the rhythmic beat of light at dusk. Working directly with oil pigments on paper allowed me to play with heavy, tactile brushwork while preserving the raw, breathing quality of the surface.
The composition is anchored by deep, vibrant fields of crimson and rich red across the lower and upper registers, evoking a powerful sense of warmth and grounded momentum. Cutting across the middle is a luminous, structural sweep of stark white and pale pinkish tones, built up with thick impasto layers that create a sense of glowing atmospheric tension. Through this bold horizontal contrast and expressive, textured handling of the medium, I wanted to evoke a pulsing horizon line—a moment where land, light, and atmosphere merge into a singular emotional frequency.
