With Midnight Confessions, I wanted to capture the heavy, quiet introspection of the late-night hours when secrets finally surface.
The canvas is anchored by deep, brooding layers of dark charcoal and black paint, creating an impenetrable midnight abyss. Breaking through this dark field is a luminous central band of soft gray and delicate pastel pinks, scraping across the surface like a fragile truth whispered in the dark.
Working in oil on paper, the thick impasto strokes stand out sharply against the absorbent, textured background. Midnight Confessions is about that stark vulnerability—the moment fragile light cuts through the darkest shadows.
