With The Hidden Tide, I wanted to capture the undercurrents of emotion that pulse just beneath a calm surface, operating in secret until they rise to claim the space.
The composition is built across deep layers of oceanic blues and cool, muted greens that create an expansive, atmospheric base. Cutting across this watery expanse are bold, textured strokes of rich crimson red—rising like an unexpected current or a submerged heartbeat breaking through the depths.
Working in oil on paper, the thick impasto holds a heavy, raised presence against the absorbent, matte background. The Hidden Tide is about that powerful, unseen force beneath the surface, waiting for the exact moment to reveal itself.
