With The Weight of Memory, I wanted to capture how past experiences settle into our consciousness—heavy, stratified, and stubbornly present.
The composition is built from dense, layered blocks of vibrant blue, rich crimson, and golden yellow, pressed against softer fields of lavender and pink at the base. Thick impasto strokes build a tangible topography across the surface, giving each color zone a distinct mass and presence that feels as though it is bearing down on the layers beneath.
Working in oil on paper, the absorbent texture provides a quiet contrast to the heavy, raised application of paint. The Weight of Memory is about the physical accumulation of the past and the solid imprint it leaves behind.
