With Yellow Fever, I wanted to capture an overwhelming surge of luminous energy, focusing on the hypnotic intensity and warmth that a single dominant color can command.
The composition is built around a brilliant saturation of sunny yellows and chartreuse tones, contrasted against deep, grounded blocks of rich green in the lower left. Thick impasto builds a dense, textured topography across the board, featuring horizontal striations and vertical drips that give the radiant surface a heavy, tangible weight.
Working in oil on board, the rigid support allows for heavy, forceful scraping and layering of the paint. Yellow Fever is about total immersion, vibrant obsession, and the intoxicating power of pure light and color.
