In DNA Testing, I wanted to capture the intricate, scientific balance between genetic structure and unpredictable biological variation.
The composition is split between a dominant, vertical column of deep cobalt blue on the left—carved with looping, helix-like gestural marks—and a vibrant backdrop of soft lavender, sharp crimson red, and luminous lime yellow on the right. Thick, impasto brushstrokes and precise tool scrapes layer across the surface, creating a rhythmic contrast between structured codes and exposed, fluid undertones that draw the viewer straight into the microscopic grid.
Working in oil on paper, the absorbent texture grounds the heavy paint layers while allowing the rough, energetic tool marks to stand out with raw intensity. DNA Testing is about that electrifying intersection of organic code, identity, and the raw blueprint of life.
