With this piece, I wanted to capture the chaotic thrill, volatile curiosity, and raw trial-and-error energy of a chemical reaction bubbling out of control.
The composition erupts with rapid, directional bursts of cobalt blue, deep violet, and hot magenta, swirling around an offset focal point of pale peach and icy grey framed by dark, skeletal linework. Thick, impasto brushstrokes and aggressive, multi-directional scrapes crosshatch the surface, creating an unstable, kinetic rhythm of overlapping pigments, streaky drips, and raw color collisions that draw the viewer straight into the heat of the laboratory flask.
Working in oil on paper, the absorbent texture grounds the heavy paint layers while allowing the rough, energetic tool marks to stand out with raw intensity. Science Experiment is about pushing boundaries without knowing the outcome—embracing the beautiful, unpredictable mess of discovery.
