With Nightmare in Oil, a 9×12 inch oil on paper painting, I wanted to explore the raw, unrestrained velocity of psychological disquiet and subconscious turbulence. Through this painting, I sought to capture a visceral sense of dread and urgent expression, utilizing dramatic diagonal brushwork, dark ink-like splatters, and a high-intensity color palette.
Created as an original oil on paper painting measuring 9×12 inches, the piece features a sweeping cascade of fiery magenta and deep rose tones colliding with a pale grey plane, anchored by a shadowy, heavily textured purple mass in the lower foreground. I applied aggressive, gestural brushstrokes and spontaneous pigment splatters across the surface to give the oil medium an uninhibited, chaotic energy that echoes the unsettling unpredictability of a fever dream.
