With Ghosts in the Gallery, a 9×12 inch oil on paper painting, I wanted to explore the quiet, lingering echoes of artistic history and phantom figures drifting through quiet exhibition spaces. Through this painting, I sought to capture an ethereal sense of movement and spectral presence, utilizing sweeping palette knife drags, sculptural impasto peaks, and a dramatically layered, high-chroma color palette.
Created as an original oil on paper painting measuring 9×12 inches, the piece features twin pale violet spectral forms rising against an upper sky of deep magenta and fuchsia, anchored by a shadowy purple-black middle plane and grounded by thick, sculpted crimson and green impasto masses in the foreground. I applied heavy palette knife work, directional scraping, and sweeping brushstrokes across the paper to give the oil medium a vibrant, ghostly presence that speaks to memory, space, and quiet observation.
