In Be Careful What You Wish For, I wanted to capture the simmering tension and hidden consequences that often lurk beneath intense ambition.
The composition is dominated by a smoldering, crimson-red field submerged under shadowy black glazes and interrupted by sharp, emerald-green scrapes that slice through the heat. Thick, impasto brushstrokes and heavy palette knife gouges pull across the surface, creating a brooding, visceral rhythm of concealed depths and sudden bursts of color that draw the viewer straight into the dark undertow of desire.
Working in oil on paper, the absorbent texture grounds the heavy paint layers while allowing the rough, energetic tool marks to stand out with raw intensity. Be Careful What You Wish For is about that seductive spark of ambition when the outcome turns out far darker and more complex than ever imagined.
