With this piece, I wanted to capture the playful, unapologetic energy of bold femininity fused with a sharp, structural edge.
The composition anchors around a vibrant core of deep cerulean and slate blues, framed by sweeping horizontal bands of hot magenta pink and soft blush, with subtle glimpses of chartreuse yellow peeking through the upper register. Thick, impasto brushstrokes and heavy squeegee scrapes drag vertically and horizontally across the surface, creating a layered rhythm of speckled textures, sharp edges, and sweet pastel accents that pull the viewer straight into the dynamic color play.
Working in oil on paper, the absorbent texture grounds the heavy paint layers while allowing the rough, energetic tool marks to stand out with raw intensity. Girly Girl is about celebrating vibrant, expressive joy while keeping a grounded, confident strength at its core.
