In Green with Envy, I wanted to capture the sharp, consuming undertow of jealousy cutting through an otherwise bright facade.
The composition is dominated by a luminous, sunlit field of buttery yellow and soft cream, slashed across by dynamic, sweeping strokes of rich emerald green and vibrant chartreuse. Thick, impasto brushstrokes and aggressive squeegee drags carve curved, serpentine pathways across the paper, creating an arresting rhythm of layered color and textured tension that pulls the viewer straight into the emotional undercurrent.
Working in oil on paper, the absorbent texture grounds the heavy paint layers while allowing the rough, energetic tool marks to stand out with raw intensity. Green with Envy is about that piercing moment when underlying desire and bitter longing break sharply through the surface.
