With this piece, I wanted to capture the weightless drift of escapism, daydreaming, and reaching for atmospheric heights above the grounded noise of everyday life.
The composition opens into a framed central window of soft cotton-candy pink, lilac, and cloud-white washes, surrounded by a heavy structure of deep royal blue, cobalt, and midnight tones along the left margin and top sky. Broad, horizontal squeegee strokes across the light-filled center contrast with energetic, gestural brushwork and etched linework embedded within the dark blue frame, creating a soaring, atmospheric rhythm of open sky and floating memory that draws the viewer straight into the serene expanse.
Working in oil on paper, the absorbent texture grounds the heavy paint layers while allowing the rough, energetic tool marks to stand out with raw intensity. Head in the Clouds is about stepping out of reality for a moment—where thoughts drift freely in the quiet blue above.
