With this piece, I wanted to capture the quiet, calculating tension of unspoken motives operating beneath a calm surface.
The composition is structured around heavy strata of charcoal grey, deep slate, and matte black, broken by a distinct horizontal band of soft pink above and striking flashes of brilliant electric blue breaking through the lower and mid-levels. Thick, impasto brushstrokes and aggressive palette knife scrapes layer across the surface, creating a secretive rhythm of obscured textures and shadowed blocks that draw the viewer straight into the subtext.
Working in oil on paper, the absorbent texture grounds the heavy paint layers while allowing the rough, energetic tool marks to stand out with raw intensity. Hidden Agenda is about that silent calculation where true intentions lurk just out of sight.
