In Melting Sorbet, an oil on paper abstract painting, I wanted to explore the playful, fleeting nature of color and warmth, capturing a sensory experience reminiscent of a sunlit afternoon. Working directly with oil pigments on paper allowed me to play with tactile textures while letting soft transitions bleed naturally across the surface.
A large, gentle field of soft peach and rosy pink dominates the left side, marked by delicate, downward drips of pale yellow that evoke a sense of slow, gravitational melting. Across the right register, blocks of light mint green and warm buttery yellow introduce a cheerful, structured contrast, layering over one another with expressive brushwork and impasto highlights. Through this harmonious collision of sweet pastel tones and organic, fluid marks, I wanted to create an airy, lighthearted atmosphere that evokes the warmth of summer and the sweet transience of a melting treat.
