With Neon High Tide, I wanted to capture the exhilarating moment when energy, color, and movement collide. Rather than depicting the ocean in a literal sense, I was inspired by the feeling of a powerful tide surging through the imagination—a rush of vibrant color that seems impossible to contain.
I built this painting with expressive palette knife work and thick layers of oil paint, allowing each stroke to remain visible and physical. Brilliant turquoise blues sweep diagonally across the surface like waves of momentum, while electric greens, luminous whites, and bold crimson reds create a dynamic tension between calm and intensity. Every mark was applied instinctively, responding to the one before it, creating a composition that feels alive and constantly in motion.
For me, Neon High Tide is about embracing moments of overwhelming inspiration—the creative currents that arrive unexpectedly and carry us toward new possibilities. It celebrates optimism, vitality, and the beauty that can emerge from spontaneous expression.
As with all of my work, this painting is a one-of-one original. It is signed, titled, dated, and permanently catalogued in my archive, representing a unique moment in my ongoing exploration of color, texture, and abstract expression.
