With Stargazing, I wanted to capture the wonder of looking up into a vast, luminous night sky, translating the mystery of the cosmos and shooting lights into an expressive abstract composition.
The canvas is anchored by deep cosmic blues and purples, slashed across by bold streaks of bright yellow and vibrant green strokes that mimic distant lights and celestial energy. Thick impasto and textured layering build a tactile topography across the woven fabric, giving the dynamic paint application a heavy, physical weight.
Working in oil on canvas, the woven texture grips the dense layers, emphasizing the immersive depth of the piece. Stargazing is about awe, the infinite expanse of the universe, and the quiet magic of gazing upward.
