With Vantage Point, I wanted to explore how perspective shifts when we look at our surroundings through a lens of abstraction and structural geometry. Working on this 9″x12″ canvas panel with oil, I built the composition using clean fields of green, crisp white, and cerulean blue as a spatial foundation, grounding the viewer in an expansive atmosphere.
Intersecting these open planes are tactile, heavily textured elements—vibrant strokes of magenta, deep blues, and warm ochre—that create an intentional sense of depth and elevation. The juxtaposition of smooth, flat color blocks with thick impasto gestures invites the eye to move across different levels of the canvas, capturing that exact moment when a new outlook or vantage point alters how we perceive the entire landscape.
