With Symphony in Blue and Crimson, I wanted to explore the harmony that can emerge from contrast. Bold crimson reds and sweeping blues dominate the composition, not as opposing forces, but as voices within the same visual orchestra. Each color responds to the other, creating a rhythm that is energetic, expressive, and unexpectedly balanced.
I approached this painting with spontaneity, allowing each palette knife stroke and brush mark to guide the next. Thick passages of oil paint overlap and reveal glimpses of earlier layers, creating depth and a sense of history beneath the surface. Brilliant yellows and soft whites punctuate the composition like moments of light breaking through, adding movement and creating visual pauses within the intensity.
For me, Symphony in Blue and Crimson is about finding beauty in opposing energies. It reflects the way passion and tranquility, structure and freedom, strength and vulnerability can coexist, each enriching the other. Rather than controlling every outcome, I allowed intuition to shape the painting, embracing the unexpected relationships that emerged through the process.
