In this oil on paper painting titled ‘Aliens Over D.C.’, I sought to capture a dramatic, unsettling encounter between the unknown and the established structures of power. The composition is built with thick, expressive impasto strokes, layering bold reds and deep purples across a cool blue atmosphere, giving the piece a raw, tactile energy.
Two large, hovering crimson forms dominate the canvas, serving as the unidentified aerial phenomena. Each craft contains a distinct, glowing purple core, representing an advanced, perhaps ethereal propulsion or consciousness. Below these mysterious visitors, the jagged vertical slashes of red on the right suggest a disturbed skyline or perhaps a view from a distorted perspective. The cool mint green at the base anchors the piece, contrasting sharply with the intense reds and blues, creating a sense of alarm and atmospheric dissonance.
