In Hope Takes Flight, an oil on paper abstract painting, I sought to capture the uplifting, weightless sensation of optimism breaking through heavy circumstances. Working directly with oil pigments on paper allowed me to build vibrant, expressive contrasts between radiant warmth and soaring cool tones.
The entire composition is flooded with a brilliant, luminous field of sunny yellow, creating an atmosphere charged with optimism and energy. Cutting dynamically across this golden expanse are sweeping strokes of bright turquoise and pale cerulean blue that surge upward like wings in motion. These bold blue lines intersect with soft, textured blocks of creamy white and pale gray, giving a sense of form lifting off from a grounded base. Through this harmonious clash of radiant yellow and soaring blue impasto strokes, I wanted to evoke a sense of freedom and renewal—a visual representation of hope taking flight into the open air.
