With Mentally Unstable, I wanted to capture the fragile balance of a mind caught between structured calm and sudden, emotional fracture.
The composition is built from sharp geometric blocks of soft yellow, lavender, and deep blue, clashing against a raw vertical pillar of crimson on the left. Thin, fragile purple drips bleed downward across the canvas like unspooling thoughts or internal fraying, cutting through the painted layers with a sense of precarious vulnerability.
Working in oil on paper, the thick impasto holds a heavy, tangible texture against the absorbent background. Mentally Unstable is about that tense, shifting equilibrium where everything looks contained on the surface, but a fracture is always threatening to run through.
