With Window Into Heaven, I wanted to capture the ethereal sensation of looking through a portal into a calm, elevated space of pure light and atmosphere.
The composition is dominated by a sweeping field of soft lavender on the right, which balances against structured blocks of pale blue, white, and warm gold on the left. Anchoring the piece is a striking, deeply textured dark rectangular portal defined by vertical striations, drawing the eye inward as if peering through a threshold into the infinite.
Working in oil on paper, the thick impasto holds a heavy, raised presence against the absorbent, matte background. Window Into Heaven is about that transcendent moment of looking beyond the ordinary world and finding a sense of quiet grace.
