With Nuclear Blast, I wanted to capture the blinding, cataclysmic energy of a sudden detonation where raw power completely consumes the landscape.
The composition is ignited by a violent explosion of brilliant yellow, fiery orange, and intense crimson strokes that streak horizontally across the canvas. Thick impasto builds a dense, aggressive texture on the woven canvas surface, mimicking the shockwave and radiant heat tearing through the atmosphere.
Working in oil on canvas, the woven texture grabs the heavy paint layers, giving the surface a rugged, pulsing intensity. Nuclear Blast is about the terrifying, awe-inspiring force of absolute destruction and the blinding flash of light that changes everything in an instant.
