With I See Through You, I wanted to explore the delicate boundary between concealment and disclosure—how someone can stand right before us, yet remain half-hidden behind the layers of our own perceptions.
The composition is dominated by a vibrant field of luminous yellow and soft washes of green, punctuated by a bold, anchoring column of deep reddish-brown and dark charcoal. Emerging faintly from the translucent background strokes is the subtle outline of a female figure, half-dissolved into the atmosphere as if she is fading into or looking straight through the physical layers of the painting.
Working in oil on canvas, the woven texture of the fabric grips the paint, giving the surface a tactile warmth while letting the ghostly silhouette hover just beneath the surface. I See Through You is about that uncanny realization of looking past superficial facades to see someone’s true essence waiting underneath.
