With Alien Autopsy, I wanted to explore the intersection of the unknown, surgical curiosity, and expressive abstraction, dissecting layers of color and texture to see what structural forms lie beneath.
The composition is framed by deep blues, purples, and dark tones on the right and lower edges, opening up to a complex interplay of soft peaches, vibrant reds, and a striking, enclosed portal of bright turquoise on the upper left. Thick impasto builds a dense, textured topography across the board, with bold, dark linear strokes slicing through the upper right like instruments or diagnostic markings.
Working in oil on board, the rigid support allows for heavy scraping, layering, and forceful paint application, giving the surface a heavy, tactile weight. Alien Autopsy is about probing the unseen, analytical examination, and the raw beauty of uncovering hidden layers.
