In Coyote Ugly, I wanted to capture the wild, untamed spirit and sultry neon-soaked tension of a reckless night on the edge.
The composition is layered with a deep, earthy crimson foundation below that transitions upward into moody purples and sultry magenta tones, all sliced through by a sweeping, luminous arch of brilliant yellow. Thick, impasto brushstrokes and aggressive palette knife scraping drag across the surface, creating a turbulent rhythm of curved gestures and shadow-drenched textures that draw the viewer straight into the heat of the atmosphere.
Working in oil on paper, the absorbent texture grounds the heavy paint layers while allowing the rough, energetic tool marks to stand out with raw intensity. Coyote Ugly is about that electric, unapologetic energy of the midnight hours when the rules bend and the wild side takes over.
