With this piece, I wanted to capture the sudden, disorienting thrill of an unexpected turn that completely alters the narrative.
The composition is submerged in deep oceanic hues of midnight navy, teal, and dark forest green, suddenly disrupted across the center by a curving shelf of bright aquamarine, violet undertones, and a sharp flash of chartreuse along the lower left edge. Thick, impasto brushstrokes and sweeping, fluid tool curves carve through the shadowed layers, creating a swirling, unpredictable rhythm of twisting values and submerged textures that draw the viewer straight into the turning tide.
Working in oil on paper, the absorbent texture grounds the heavy paint layers while allowing the rough, energetic tool marks to stand out with raw intensity. Plot Twist is about that breathtaking moment when everything you thought you knew shifts in an instant.
