With Captain Crunch, a 9×12 inch oil on paper painting, I wanted to explore a playful yet bold interplay of primary energy, structure, and rhythmic texture. Through this painting, I sought to capture a striking sense of nostalgia and kinetic movement, utilizing broad palette knife drags, crisp impasto layering, and vibrant contrasting hues.
Created as an original oil on paper painting measuring 9×12 inches, the piece features a rich expanse of brilliant ocean blues fragmented by scraped blocks of bright white and bold, fiery reds. I applied heavy palette knife strokes and dynamic layering techniques to give the oil medium a raw, tactile geometry that echoes both industrial structure and lively pop-art nostalgia.
