With The Haunted Mansion, a 9×12 inch oil on paper painting, I wanted to explore the brooding silhouette of monumental architecture steeped in ghostly intrigue and nocturnal stillness. Through this painting, I sought to capture an imposing, gothic atmosphere where structured geometry meets spectral energy, utilizing sweeping palette knife drags, bold color blocking, and stark vertical drip accents.
Created as an original oil on paper painting measuring 9×12 inches, the piece features a bold, vertical pillar of vivid azure blue on the left flanking a central, dark black roofline suspended beneath a field of textured deep purple, all grounded by a vibrant teal lower plane pierced by sharp white vertical drips. I applied heavy impasto knife work and directional scraping across the paper to give the oil medium a crisp, tactile presence that echoes mysterious estate walls and lingering apparitions.
