With this piece, I wanted to capture the sharp, underlying tension of a high-stakes transaction where things are not quite as they appear.
The composition is layered with an intense, fiery field of vivid red above, anchored by heavy, brooding blacks at the top and torn through the middle by chaotic strata of bright yellow and cream scrapes. Thick, impasto brushstrokes and aggressive palette knife scraping drag across the surface, creating a turbulent rhythm of warning signals and hidden depths that draw the viewer straight into the friction of a risky trade.
Working in oil on paper, the absorbent texture grounds the heavy paint layers while allowing the rough, energetic tool marks to stand out with raw intensity. Buyer Beware is about that arresting moment of hesitation when instinct tells you to look closer before taking the leap.
