With Guardian Angel, I wanted to explore themes of protection, comfort, and unseen presence through an interplay of delicate and grounding tones. Working with oil on a 9″x12″ canvas panel, I built up heavy, tactile layers of pigment, allowing rich crimsons and vibrant blues to peek through sweeping veils of soft white and pale pink.
The composition balances structure with a sense of gentle shielding, where the luminous upper strokes hover protectively over the deeper, more turbulent layers below. Every impasto mark and scraped texture represents a feeling of reassurance, translating the abstract concept of a guardian presence into a deeply personal visual rhythm.
