In Echoes in Electric Blue, an oil on paper abstract painting, I sought to capture the resonance of sound and memory vibrating through contrasting color fields. Working directly with oil pigments on paper allowed me to build thick, tactile blocks of pigment while letting lighter washes breathe across the surface.
Dominating the left and center is a powerful mass of deep cobalt and electric blue, carved with looping, structural strokes and highlighted by stark white paths that cascade downward like acoustic waves. This heavy cool presence stands in striking opposition to the vibrant red and sunny yellow fields on the right, which are punctuated by sharp, vertical teal strokes. Through this energetic collision of saturated hues and expressive impasto textures, I wanted to evoke a sense of acoustic reverberation—a visual echo traveling across an emotional landscape.
