With Family Man, a 9×12 inch oil on paper painting, I wanted to explore the subtle, comforting boundaries of domesticity and protective shelter. Through this painting, I sought to capture the interplay between structural containment and quiet emotional warmth, utilizing soft linear etchings, layered atmospheric grounds, and striking crimson accents.
Created as an original oil on paper painting measuring 9×12 inches, the piece features an upper expanse of deep indigo framed by a glowing horizon of vibrant magenta, juxtaposed against a lower field of muted violet and taupe anchored by ghostlike, rounded box-like line drawings and rich maroon impasto figures. I applied scraped horizontal layers, fine line carvings, and textured paint application to give the oil medium a quiet, contemplative depth that speaks to home, structure, and connection.
