In Joy Unfolding, an oil on paper abstract painting, I sought to capture the exuberant, spontaneous burst of happiness as it breaks through structured boundaries. Working directly with oil pigments on paper allowed me to play with dynamic contrasts, blending heavy impasto gestures with vibrant fields of color.
A radiant core of bright yellow and deep crimson dominates the composition, radiating an infectious, sunlit warmth across the surface. This energetic warmth is balanced by grounding blocks of deep blue and dark green on the left, while bold, sweeping strokes of pale blue and looping gold lines cut across the center like ribbons of light and movement. Through this vibrant collision of saturated hues and expressive, tactile brushwork, I wanted to evoke a sense of uncontained celebration—an emotional blossoming where color and light unfurl in harmony.
