With Mind Control, I wanted to explore the subtle, overriding influence of external thoughts pressing down on our own consciousness.
The composition is built from dense, heavy blocks of deep indigo, rich plum, and vibrant turquoise, layered and scraped across the paper to create a feeling of psychological pressure. A dominant block of electric blue presses down from the upper registers, while muted pinks and lavenders peek through from below like a suppressed internal voice.
Working in oil on paper, the thick impasto holds its dense, physical weight against the absorbent surface. Mind Control is about that heavy, hypnotic friction where outside forces attempt to steer our inner landscape.
