In Picasso’s Palette, an oil on paper abstract painting, I sought to explore the vibrant interplay of form and color reminiscent of modernist masterworks, capturing a sense of structured spontaneity. Working directly with oil pigments on paper allowed me to build rich, tactile surfaces while letting different blocks of pigment interact dynamically.
The composition is anchored by a bold canopy of deep rose and vibrant red across the top, setting a passionate and expressive tone. Below this, intersecting fields of soft cream, pale peach, and dusty mauve create a fragmented, dimensional space. Sharp horizontal streaks of brilliant blue cut across the lighter central mass like precise brush marks or sudden color accents, contrasted by energetic dabs of bright red and warm amber clustered toward the right and lower registers. Through this layered collision of contrasting tones and expressive impasto textures, I wanted to evoke a sense of creative genesis—a visual nod to the restless experimentation of an artist’s working palette.
