Subterranean Hive is an exploration into an otherworldly, parasitic ecosystem thriving deep beneath an alien surface. I built this piece using heavy, layered impasto strokes of oil paint, creating a thick, tactile terrain that feels alive and constantly shifting.
The dominant sea of toxic greens and acid yellows represents a dense, bioluminescent underworld, where traditional organic rules do not apply. On the left side, the repeating circular motifs and hanging stems act as silent, watchful pods suspended within the viscous atmosphere. The stark vertical slashes and dark, impenetrable green blocks at the base anchor the composition, suggesting massive, strange architecture hidden beneath a hostile, glowing canopy.”
