With Tangled Heartstrings, I wanted to capture the messy, beautiful complexity of deep affection, where vulnerability and passion intertwine.
The composition is built upon warm, earthy undertones and soft peach washes, overlaid with rich fields of crimson and rosy pinks. Sharp, vertical drips of white and pale pigment bleed down the canvas like tears or unspooling threads, cutting through the textured layers and hinting at emotional exposure.
Working in oil on paper, the thick impasto holds a heavy, raised presence against the absorbent background. Tangled Heartstrings is about that fragile, tangled space where love gets wonderfully complicated.
