When my palette knife first met the canvas, I wasn’t looking to paint a map; I was chasing a feeling—that breathless moment when sunlight hits a hidden meadow and the world feels entirely suspended in time.

I started with the upper horizon, laying down that deep, anchoring blue. To me, it represents the vast, quiet infinite—a threshold or a distant sky that looks down upon everything below. But I didn’t want a quiet landscape. I wanted a pulse.

That is where the lime greens and electric yellows came rushing in. I layered them thickly, letting the textures drag and catch, building a glowing plane that feels almost alive under the light. Those sharp, vertical blue lines slicing through the warmth? They are my anchor points, the quiet structure holding all that brilliant chaos together, acting like ancient pillars or deep roots descending into a sacred earth.

When I step back and look at it now, it feels less like a place you can drive to and more like a state of mind. It is a sanctuary built of pure color—an idealized, eternal spring where the noise of the world just fades away. That is why I call it Elysian Fields.
