With Operation Desert Storm, I wanted to capture the chaotic friction between stark, arid expanses and sudden, overwhelming sweeps of strategic force.
The composition is grounded in broad, warm fields of sandy beige and muted earth tones, evoking the sweeping dunes of a desert landscape. Cutting violently across this neutral terrain are aggressive, swirling strokes of sky blue and deep royal blue, mapping out turbulent movement, air currents, and the high-stakes clash of elements.
Working in oil on paper, the thick impasto leaves a tactile, heavy relief that emphasizes the aggressive momentum of the brushwork. Operation Desert Storm is about mapping a turbulent conflict onto a quiet, sun-bleached expanse where calm and chaos collide.
