With Life’s a Beach, I wanted to capture the effortless warmth and sun-bleached serenity of a lazy day by the water, filtered through an abstract lens.
The composition is built upon expansive, sandy yellow and cream washes that evoke the feeling of warm dunes and bright shorelines. Floating within this luminous field are organic blocks of coral-peach and rich, sun-drenched crimson, mimicking the shifting interplay of shadows, towels, and bodies under a blazing sun.
Working in oil on paper, the absorbent texture softens the background while the pigmented blocks sit with a rich, tactile presence. Life’s a Beach is about distilling the carefree, unhurried essence of summer down to its barest, warmest elements.
