With Macabre Morning, a 9×12 inch oil on paper painting, I wanted to explore the eerie juxtaposition between the quiet emergence of a new day and an underlying sense of atmospheric foreboding. Through this painting, I sought to capture a chilling, uncanny morning light, utilizing delicate vertical line etchings, scraped textural horizons, and a muted, haunting color palette.
Created as an original oil on paper painting measuring 9×12 inches, the piece features a soft, misty field of pale seafoam green overhead, descending into a brooding band of deep, textured crimson and a luminous, warm yellow base line slashed by thin, vertical pillars. I applied scraped paint layers and fine linear incisions to give the oil medium a raw, atmospheric tension that evokes both ghostly structure and uneasy awakening.
