With One Tequila Two Tequila Three Tequila Floor, I wanted to capture the dizzy, disorienting slide from a fun night out straight down to reality.
The composition is built on horizontal blocks of vibrant red, soft pink, and warm cream, sliding past one another like a room tilting out of alignment. Cutting abruptly across the center are sharp, horizontal black dashes that slice through the hazy pastel fields like sudden, erratic thoughts before everything drops out.
Working in oil on paper, the thick impasto creates a tangible weight against the absorbent surface. One Tequila Two Tequila Three Tequila Floor is about that slippery slope where balance completely gives way.
